The Irreplaceability Question

The Anthropic Economic Index came out in March 2026. I read it because someone in a Slack channel shared it with a somewhat ominous subject line. I stayed with it because my occupation was in the high-exposure tier — and because the framing of “exposure” is doing a lot of work that deserves to be unpacked.

High exposure doesn’t mean high replaceability. I know this because I’ve spent the last two years building the very systems that are supposed to be doing the replacing.
